Hi, I'm Phil Hopkins. I've explored a wide range of topics as a photographer and journalist.

The majority of my work is self-initiated. It is focused on capturing the natural world with a photographer's eye and a storyteller's perspective.

My photos have been carried across the United Press International wire service, displayed in the pages of numerous newspapers and magazines, have been represented internationally by the Black Star photo agency and have appeared on NationalGeographic.com and Expeditions.com. For many years I was a member of the American Society of Magazine Photographers.

Articles I've written have appeared in Cousteau Society publications, business journals, consumer magazines, Web publications, annual reports and a variety of technical periodicals.

Expeditions I've participated in have explored the remote Line Islands of Kiribati in the South Pacific, the seldom-visited temperate rainforests of British Columbia, and I've documented a rare total eclipse of the sun for the Eclipse Megamovie project. I plan to photograph another total solar eclipse in 2024.

I am currently focused on capturing images of environments and the diverse wildlife impacted by ongoing climate change.
